How important is knowledge and awareness of supposed “key leader traits” to students and practitioners of education leadership?

Understanding that someone is not born and the next day starts leading is pause for thought. Aspects that work in influencing others to success are important to ponder as we may attune to possessing these as we develop our life-long attributes. However,  this article places a great emphasis on the monetary success of an organisation over other aspects such as the wellbeing of the workers. This is to say that defining a great leader in a business sense is different from one in a humanistic sense. Both sides of the balance sheet need to be considered when analysing success as a leader within an organisation. Sustainable leadership which drives and motivates staff to willingly perform to the peak of their potential may result in similar financial results as an authoritarian leader who cuts staff numbers and makes ‘necessary changes’ to achieve the desired outcome. Therefore, my opinion is that this article is too simplistic to assertain any real worth.
